Mrs. Springer passed away at her residence in Waxahachie Saturday evening. Mrs. Springer was born in the family home in Britton, Texas along with her twin sister Janette, the youngest of eleven children to Ples and Lizzie (Parker) Hendrixson. She attended school at Britton and Midlothian where she graduated from High School in 1939. She attended her freshman year at North Texas State University in Denton.
Janiece married Lewis W Springer Sr. on January 4, 1941 and they had two sons- Lewis Wilson Springer Jr. and Jeffery Lee Springer. They lived on a Midlothian route before moving to Waxahachie. Janiece was a member of the Britton United Methodist Church since childhood and after marrying Lewis she transferred her membership to Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla. She began doing flower arrangements for the church after Lewis returned from the service in 1945. She kept the nursery for a time when Wilson was a small Child. She just loved people, attending church and women's meetings.
Janiece worked for Mohr Chevrolet in Dallas, Dr. Norman West and Dr. Miles Hastings in Waxahachie. In 1961 she opened Janiece's Flower Shop and provided flowers for all occasions and delivered them all over Ellis and Dallas Counties and even out of State until 1997. This was her passion. She was a member of Allied Florist of Dallas where she held the position of Secretary. She was a member of FTD, AFS, Florafax and Teleflora where she served as Vice-President and President of the North Texas Unit.
She and Lewis Celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary January 4, 2001.
She is survived one son Wilson Springer and his wife Frances of Red Oak, Daughter-in - law Jackie Springer of Waxahachie, 2 grandchildren Joni Dunsmore and husband Kevin, Kody Harper and wife Mandie of Waxahachie, 4 great grandchildren; Frank Jeffery Sica, Gracie Dunsmore, Chance Harper, Brooks Harper, Twin Sisters sons and their families. Extended family: Sharron and Jim McKinney of Cardova, Tenn., Rodger Whitney of Redwood City, Ca., Stephen and Kathy Whitney of Dallas, Ann and Gary Turk of Arlington, Joy Parten of Grandview, caregivers; Debbie Culp, Shirley Bice and many Hendrixson and Springer nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis on 7/12/2005, one son Lt. Jeffrey Lee Springer on 8/7/1999, her parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10:30 AM Wednesday November 11, 2009 at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla with James Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
