James (Jim) Harris

Grandview

James “Jim” Harris was born February 24, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Kern and Helen Harris.  The family moved to Kentucky, then to Texas, and spent most of their life in the Dallas area. He and his High School sweetheart, Dorris, were married 64 years.

Jim was a Tool and Die maker, and was Co-owner in Acu-Tool and Die in Lancaster, Texas before

retiring.  He loved fishing, shooting guns, camping in their travel trailer, playing the guitar, and he loved being a HAM Radio Operator. He spent his nights talking on the radio to people all over the world, and wore that Call Name, KD5AY, proudly.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dorris, son Ricky Harris and wife, Kellie of Waxahachie, daughter, Gayle Gann and husband Terry of Venus, Texas, grandson Justin Harris and wife Clarissa of Waxahachie.  Grandson Kyle Harris of Mansfield, granddaughter Shanna Wies and husband Ryan of Hurst, grandson Tanner Gann and wife Stephanie of Paris, Texas and Cooper Gann of Venus, Texas. He also had 4 great-grandchildren:  Josiah Harris, Caelyn Harris, Jedidiah Harris, and Asher Wies.  Survived by brother, Pat Harris of Athens Texas, and sister, Victoria Gassett of  Ft. Worth, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents,  brother, Kern Harris Jr., and precious grandson Zachary Harris.
