James Edward Wright
June 1, 1915-February 11, 2006
Edward Wright passed away at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie on Saturday, February 11, 2006.
Edward was born to John and Jessie Stanton Wright in Ellis County, Texas, on June 1, 1915. He married Lora Belle Johnson on October 13, 1938, in Italy, Texas. He served as a military policeman in the United States Army during World War II.
Edward was an active member of Farley Street Baptist Church. He served as a deacon for over 50 years at Sardis Baptist Church at Lone Elm and Farley Street Baptist Church.
In 1980 he retired as a driver for TXI Cement and became an active member of the Waxahachie Senior Citizens Center. Twice he was honored as "Mr. Waxahachie Senior Citizen". He was the official pancake maker for their bi-monthly pancake breakfast for many years. He enjoyed playing 42 and 84 with friends and family. He also enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers.
Edward's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Scholz and husband Frank of Cleburne and Carole Taylor and husband Don of Waxahachie; one
son, Jimmy Wright and wife Rosa of Middleburg, FL.; seven grandchildren, Sandy Whitted, Donna Scholz, Allen Willis, Paul Buzbee, Rhett Taylor, Lori Edson and husband Mark, and Ryan Taylor. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Douglas and Jonathon Willis, Morgan Edson and Melissa Whitted. He is also survived by his dear friend, Olive "Miss Ollie" Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law Howard Willis, grandson-in-law, DeVane Whitted, and great-granddaughter Bailey Willis.
The family will receive family and friends at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The Celebration of Life will be at Farley Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 15, at 2 :00 PM. Interment will be at Sardis Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Farley Street Baptist Church or Waxahachie Senior Citizens Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
