James Walker

January 9, 1984 — August 4, 2017

James ‘Jim' Cooper Walker joined our family on the tenth day of his life, January 19, 1984. We adopted Jim from Edna Gladney in Fort Worth on a very cold winter day, and he warmed our hearts. In Junior High, Jim first traveled to Washington, D.C. and New York with the Waxahachie Washington Warriors. It was love at first sight with New York. In High School, Jim played the timpani drums at the Texas State Marching Contest in Waco, Texas and later marched in the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade in New York when the temperature never climbed above 20 degrees.

After High School, Jim went to Landmark College in Putney, Vermont. At Landmark, Jim blossomed into a wonderful young man with an outgoing, infectious personality that gained him many, many friends. Jim always said his time at Landmark was the best time of his life. After graduating with an Associate's Degree, Jim continued his relationship forged at Landmark while also maintaining close friendships from High School. After Landmark Jim attended Lynn University and Texas State University where he joined Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and really loved playing Rugby. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie.

Jim was the go-to-guy for anyone that needed him. He absolutely loved you guys. Jim was always supportive of his friends and he would fly across the country, if necessary, to assist a friend in need. Friends and family were always first.

Jim enjoyed golf, skiing, any kind of sporting event, country music, Texas Longhorns, tubing on the river, family events, gathering of friends, Oma's Jiffy Burgers and Cloudcroft and White Sands, New Mexico. Jim also loved Green Woodlands, being outdoors, riding snow mobiles, driving large equipment and helping with the bears and conservation.

Edna Gladney was always very special to Jim.

On August 4, 2017, at only 33 years old, Jim left this life much too early and without an explanation. We love him deeply and miss him greatly. He is survived by his parents, Suzanne and David Walker of Waxahachie, his brother Thomas Walker of Waxahachie and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
