James Settlemyer

James Michael Settlemyer from Waxahachie, Texas passed away February 17, 2018 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at 5:40 am. Mike was born January 14, 1945 to Donald Dean and Evelyn Settlemyer who proceeded him in death along with his brother Donald Dean Settlemyer II, Brother in-law James Crawford and mother to his son's Carol Ann Settlemyer.

He is survived by Obia Montgomery of Murfreesboro, TN, Son Mike and wife Tammy Settlemyer II, Son Scott and wife Jackie Settlemyer of Waxahachie, Tx. Granddaughter Kaley Settlemyer, Grandson's Mike Settlemyer III, Scott Settlemyer Jr., Nathan Settlemyer and his love Morgan Eden. Great grand-children Karter Settlemyer, Zoey Settlemyer and soon to be born Bentley Settlemyer. Sister Cynthia Malone and her husband Patrick, Sister Sylvia Bietendorf and her husband James, Sister Bettie Crawford and Brother Eddie Settlemyer and wife Sharon, Sister-in-law Pat Settlemyer and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Mike grew up in Duncanville, Texas and graduated from Duncanville High School. After graduation Mike joined the Air Force where he proudly served 8 years. After serving his country he was employed by Sears Roebuck Company for 34 years. Upon retirement he faithfully served his community and The Greenhouse Ministries as a mentor and counselor to the homeless in Murfreesboro, TN. He was a member of The Covenant of The Cross Church in Madison, TN. He was part of the Bible study group called Branches. He received the honor of VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR award from Murfreesboro, TN. He also enjoyed being Santa and often seen by children throughout the year, always giving him their Christmas wishes.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, February 23, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home located in Waxahachie, Texas. A Celebration of his life will be Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 pm at the Sardis United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery in Sardis, Texas.
