James Earl Prewitt, of Waxahachie, Texas, formerly of McCrory, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Born to Troy and Thelma Prewitt in Sidon, Mississippi on June 30, 1943, he was the 9th of 12 children. James Earl was ordained a Deacon on January 7, 1968 at the McKay Baptist Church, Little Rock. He also served as a deacon in several churches where he and his family were active members. They moved from North Little Rock, Arkansas to Midlothian, Texas in 1980, where they were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Midlothian, then Water Street and Farley Street both in Waxahachie. James spent most of his young life in McCrory, Arkansas where he attended school, and was a member of the Junior and Senior Jaguar football team. He retired from Ash Grove Cement, Midlothian, Texas in 2005 as an electrician. Survivors include: wife, Sue Prewitt of Waxahachie; children, Norman and Vickie Prewitt of Palmer, Texas, Melanie and Benjie Russ of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jason and Jessica Prewitt of Gary, Texas ; grandchildren, Twyla Lynn Miller, Jonathan and Brandy Prewitt, Chance Miller, Josh Prewitt, Jacob Prewitt, Jonas Prewitt and Judson Prewitt; great grandson, Bentley Prewitt; brothers, T.A., Billy Wayne and Gerald; and two sisters, LaNell Chappell and Dorothy Arnold. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter, Twyla Sue; five brothers, John, Darnell, Edwin, Ladell and Jackie and one sister, Bobbie Ann Gilbert. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 3:30-5:30 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of James Earl's life will be Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10 AM in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Jason Prewitt, Brother Richard Smith and Brother James Southard officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at the Woodman Cemetery, McCrory, Arkansas, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10 AM. Those serving as pallbearers include, Norman Prewitt, Jason Prewitt, Benjie Russ, Jonathan Prewitt, Chance Miller, and Josh Prewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Twyla Miller, Jacob Prewitt, Jonas Prewitt, Judson Prewitt and Bentley Prewitt. The family would like to say a special thanks to the Red Oak Health and Rehab staff and to the Bristol Hospice Pathways staff for the care and compassion shown to us during this part of our loved one's journey.
