J. T. Miller was born in Dallas, TX to O'Rene (Billings) and James Richard Miller. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School (1956) and attended North Texas State University. He served in the United States Army as a Warrant Officer, both state-side and in Germany. After the army years, he began his many years of association with Highland Park Cafeteria in Dallas. Beginning on the serving line, he later became assistant manager at the original location on Knox St. and then their Sakowitz location. Ultimately, he opened the Casa Linda location of HPC. In 1980, he joined his family's business, Goodman Music, serving as General Manager of that company's various piano and organ stores in the DFW area. In 1997, he began his association with Cingular/AT&T Mobility just as the cell phone industry was emerging. He worked in sales initially and moved into sales management working at several established locations as well as opening their Town East store and their North Park store. Throughout his career, he most enjoyed working with people and being of service. He was most proud of his ability to identify and recruit potential sales talent and mentor the growth of that talent.
