James Linville

James "Larry" Linville of Waxahachie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 20, 2017 in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He leaves behind his wife of almost 40 years, Judy (Mauldin) Linville. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Linville, Sr. and wife, Dell; his nephews, Joe Linville, Jr. and wife, Katie, and Jay Linville and wife, Evelyn; his sister-in-law, Sharon Mauldin; his nephew, William Rodgers and wife, Erin; his niece, Elizabeth Dorn and husband, Michael; along with great-nephews, Joseph, Kyle, and Gage Linville, Camden and Bronx Rodgers, and great niece, Brooklyn Rodgers. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. T. and Jennie Lou (Middleton) Linville, his in-laws, J. W. and Irma (Jones) Mauldin; his great-nephew, Tyler Rodgers and his great-niece, Lauren Linville.

Larry was born in Waxahachie on December 23, 1948. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1967. He served six years in the Texas Air National Guard where they refueled fighter jets over Europe from a KC97L. He was honorably discharged with a final rank of Staff Sergeant. He started his career as an ambulance driver for Rudolph, Sparkman-Hillcrest, and Dudley M. Hughes Funeral Homes. He moved on to work for Parker Service in Dallas as a refrigeration technician where he got to work on the suites at Texas Stadium. He then owned Linville's Gulf Station at the corner of Main and Monroe in Waxahachie for 10 years before going to work with his father-in-law in his business, Mauldin Services, as an electrician. He was employed as a Plant Operator at the Waxahachie Waste Water Treatment Plant at the time of his death.

While running Linville Gulf Station, he joined the Waxahachie Rural Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief for over 15 years. He was also instrumental in starting the Emergency Service District for the Waxahachie area. He enjoyed and was very proud to be able to serve the public in this capacity. It was a calling that he loved.

He and Judy travelled extensively, and he loved to scuba dive. He couldn't get enough of the water, the fish, and the reefs. They treasured their trips to Tahiti, but made many trips to Mexico that they thoroughly enjoyed.

In recent years, he loved watching the wildlife out his back windows…the birds and ducks that visited his feeders. And he loved his cat, Sable.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
