James Janway

October 23, 1922 — August 31, 2013

James L Janway went gently into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday August 31, 2013 at his home in Waxahachie, Texas. James was born October 23, 1922 in Crowder OK to Jim and Emma Janway. He grew up in the Crowder area and graduated from Crowder High School. James farmed in the area until he was called to duty in the Army during World War II which took him to the Pacific island of Guadalcanal. After the war he married Ruby Parker on Sept 6, 1947 and they would have celebrated 66 years together this week. They lived in McAlester, OK for 47 years before moving to Waxahachie, TX to live with their son, Jerry. James built a career with the Oklahoma State Highway Department in McAlester and retired as the assistant Resident Engineer after 32 years. James was a 55 year Mason with affiliations at Canadian Lodge # 22, McAlester Lodge # 550 and Lodge # 90 in Waxahachie, TX. He loved time with family, working on the farm, fishing and food. James is preceded in death by his parents, brothers George and Jessie Janway and sister Effie Henderson. He leaves behind one brother Eugene Janway, one sister Faye Duvall, his loving wife Ruby, son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Kathy Janway of Waxahachie, TX, granddaughter and husband Heather and David Roberts, grandsons John Janway, Zachary Janway and wife Samantha , Andrew Janway, Nicholas Janway and fiancé Cassandra, two great grandchildren, Preston and Hayden Roberts and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at The Cowboy Church of Ellis County, 2374 Hwy 287 Bypass , Waxahachie, TX 75167 at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 with Bro. Gary Morgan officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 West Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, Texas 75167. In lieu of flowers James would be pleased to know that any acknowledgement of his passing would be made to The Cowboy Church of Ellis County.
