James Howard Hobbs, Jr., 67 of Italy, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.  James was born July 14, 1953 in Houston, Texas to James Howard and Roberta “Bobbye Gay” (Carmon) Hobbs.  James was a supportive husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. James Hobbs was a businessman as well as a family man. James and wife, Joyce, owned and operated Hobbs’ Feed store in Italy, supporting the growth of the local FFA kids, and the community for seven years. James grew up in Angleton and spent his life serving others as a Houston Firefighter, Webster Fire Marshal, member of the Galveston County Sherriff’s Department. James was a member of the Mason’s, and an avid supporter of the Italy Lions Club promoting fundraisers. James served on the Italy city council and later became Mayor of Italy from 2013-2015.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James Howard, and Roberta Hobbs; sister, Iva Lee Hobbs; maternal grandparents, Robert L., and Iva LaVerne Carmon; and paternal grandparents, Lester Lee, and Annabelle Hobbs.

To cherish his memory, James leaves behind his wife, Joyce McCune Hobbs of Italy, TX, his children Amanda Hayes (Donald) of Pearland, Weldon Hobbs (Kristen) of Tucson, and Jamie Holland (James) of Conroe; her children Scott Dragger (Sylvia), David Dragger (Melanie), Dena Baughman (Matt); precious grandchildren, Will and Nora Hayes, Addie Hobbs, Emmaleigh and James Holland, Jessica Gonzalez, Jeremy Rouse, Dani and Dane Dragger; sister, Cindy Hobbs Camp (David Pope); brother, Daryl Hobbs (Lauren); niece, Meagan Camp (Doug Layer); nephew, Jonathan Hobbs (Emily); aunt, Faye Williamson; and numerous other cousins and family members. James touched the lives of so many and will be missed by all that knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. @ https://myasthenia.org/
