James Robert Guthrie, age 54

Mr. Guthrie passed away Saturday morning. He was born in Elkhart, TX. to Sam and Margie (Fines) Guthrie. He joined the US Army in 1966, retiring after 21 years. He served in Vietnam. He was a residential trainer for the Mexia State School for ten years. James received his associate degree in 1990 at McLendon Community College in Waco. He married Jennifer Warner on August 6, 1992 in Waxahachie. He loved the outdoorsé�-was an avid fisherman, hunter and horseman.

Mr. Guthrie is survived by: his wife, Jennifer Warner Guthrie of Waxahachie; three sons, James Chappel of Ferris, Joshua Guthrie with the Air Force in Florida and Paul Hutton of Waxahachie; daughters, Regina Schmidt and her husband Mitchell of California, Melissa Guthrie of Colorado and Leigh Hutton of Waxahachie; brothers, Charles Guthrie and his wife Yolanda of Chandler, Gary Guthrie also of Chandler, Robert Guthrie and Scott Guthrie both of Waxahachie; sisters, Faye Spikes of Houston, and Winnie Raymond and her husband Dewayne of Waxahachie; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be 2 PM Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Midway Baptist Church in Ferris with Reverend Doug Childers officiating.
