James Green passed away Tuesday morning at Medical Center of Arlington. He was born in Waxahachie to Bill and Mattie (Ray) Green. He graduated from Waxahachie High School and Gupton Jones Institute of Mortuary Science 1958. Mr. Green joined the Texas Army National Guard 49th Armored Division in 1953. He was called to active duty in the Army in 1961 during the Cuban Missle Crisis being discharged in 1963 as a US Army Sgt.

Mr. Green served as County Chairman for Young Texans for Carr, Ellis County Democrats. He was a past director of the Waxahachie Community Chest and member of the City Planning and Zoning Board. He was named as Outstanding President of the Waxahachie Jaycees in 1964. He received the honor of being named as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1967.

He was employed with Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer from 1952 to 1970. From 1970 to 1975, he was employed with various funeral homes. He was then employed with LTV as a quality control supervisor until 1991. He worked various jobs during his retirement years. Mr. Green was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are: wife, Agnes Green of Arlington; daughters, Shelley Raney and husband Steven of Waxahachie, Robin Reichardt and husband Ken of Arlington; a step-daughter, Renee Johnson and husband Chance of Grand Prairie; one brother, Cecil Green and wife Flora Lee of Waxahachie; one sister, Louise Huffstetler and husband Bill of Ennis; grandchildren, Alison, Andrew and Alexandra Raney of Waxahachie, Jason Tapp of Waxahachie, Adam Tapp, Chad and Nicholas Reichardt, of Arlington and Aiden Johnson of Grand Prairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J. T. and Billy Green; and three sisters, Anita Martin, Dorothy and Frances Green of Waxahachie.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Monday, November 29, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
