James Elliott, 77 of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, October 17, 2008 at a nursing home in Lancaster. He was born to the late Plato & Odie Mae Reeves Elliott on August 15, 1931 in San Augustine, Texas.
As a young man Jim worked on the farm and in the logging industry. After earning a degree in Construcion Enginerring Jim began working in construction, laying pipe for oil companies and traveling all over the United States, France and South America. For 29 years Jim worked for Morrison-Knudsen building nuclear plants, coal-fired plants, and repairing a nuclear submarine. He ended his career working in Waxahachie helping build the Super-Collider.
Jim loved bass fishing, singing and playing the guitar and entertaining friends.
He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling old stories. Jim lived for his family and his friends. He was very proud of his children and 16 grandchildren. He loved Joy, he loved life and he loved his God.
He is survived by his loving wife, Comellia Joy Bunch Elliott of Waxahachie; children, Mona Elizabeth Sanders and her husband, Keith of Magnolia, James Kirk Elliott and his wife, Becky of Aiken, S.C., brother, Paul Elliott and his wife, Brenda of Centralia, KA; sisters, Ethel Mae Nyberg of Humble, Texas, Brenda Kilgore and her husband Murray of Pineland, Texas, Rosemary White and her husband, Marvin of Nacogdoches, Texas; a special niece, Rhonda Gail Perk and her husband, Stephen of Dayton, Texas; step-children, Clinton Bunch and his wife, Belinda of Sunnyvale, Ronald Bunch of Waxahachie, Brian Bunch of Red Oak; grandchildren, Brandon Stultz, Gillian and Adam; step-grandchildren, Dustin Marshall and his wife, Denise, Crystal Bunch, Joshua & Laurin Bunch, Jordan Bunch, Britany Bunch, Marcus & Monica Bunch, Dylan & Jacob Bunch, Casey Odom, Allison Bunch, Meredith & Julia Bunch; and two step-great grandchildren, Emma and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Betty Willyard.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Waxahachie, with Dr. Shane Kinnison and Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
