Mr. Banks passed away Wednesday morning at Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born on the family farm near Waxahachie, TX. to Walter and Minnie (Freeman) Banks. After attending schools in Howard and Waxahachie, he joined the US Navy prior to WW II serving on a Destroyer Tender in the Pacific. Mr. Banks had three brothers who also served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed by and retired from Phillips Oil Company. Mr. Banks spent his remaining years in Waxahachie in the care and companionship of nephews Buddy Banks and Jim Stoffregen and special friends Dr. Paul Kare and his staff.
Mr. Banks is survived by: brother, Lawrence Banks; sister, Carrie Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Walter B. Banks and Minnie Freeman Banks; brothers, John, Walter B. and Billy Banks; sisters, Annie Bradley, Sally Stoffregen and Estelle Shirley.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Mr. Banks Life will be 2 PM Saturday, November 12, 2005
in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrell Strength, Dan Morton, Kevin Chester, Dale Stephenson, John Davis, and Greg Sallee. Honorary pallbearers will be Kit Roark, Bobby Loyd and friends of the Waxahachie Country Club Knock Games. Interment will follow in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
