James Anderson

September 27, 1922 — October 15, 2014

James Lloyd Anderson, 92 of Atlanta, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in Waxahachie, Texas and attended school in Ellis County. He followed his father into the plumbing trade and worked in the construction of several military bases prior to World War II. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor he joined the United States Marines Corps, serving in F Company, 2d Battalion, 2 d Marine Division where he saw combat on the Island of Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in action. He participated in the Occupation of Japan at Nagasaki after the second atomic bombing. He returned to Texas after the war and soon married Janice Cariker. He and his father operated a plumbing supply business and septic tank service in Dallas, Texas. In 1952 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and established his own septic tank service, Ed Anderson & Son. James worked until 2007 when health issues forced him to retire and close his business after 55 years of hard work. James was a great talker and storyteller, loved to dance and always enjoyed a good cigar. He is survived by Son & Daughter in Law: James Jeffrey & Darlene Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; Granddaughter: Megan Anderson Wilbanks and husband James of Covington, GA Great Grandson: Emerson James Wilbanks of Covington, GA; 1 Sister: Helen Cook of Dallas, Texas; Brother in law: Jess L. Cariker and wife Virginia of Paris, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM Graveside at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation with the family is scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. There will be a short visitation Monday, October 27, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Piedmont Healthcare Foundation 2001 Peachtree Road NW Suite 400 Atlanta, Georgia 30309. Specify that your donation is to benefit the Piedmont Cancer Center in memory of James L. Anderson.
