Jake Escamilla, Sr.

Jake went home to be with his Lord on Thursday April 23, 2009 in Waxahachie at the age of 81.
He was born August 24, 1927 to Sophia and Roque Escamilla in Forreston, Texas. He attended school at Nash, Texas before enlisting in the U.S. army. He served during WWII in Korea.
Jake is survived by his wife Irene and children Jake "Jody" Escamilla and wife Brenda, Nita Mercer and husband Bob, Lori Recksiek and husband Michael, Annette Grimes, Frank Escamilla and wife Tressie, and Steven Escamilla; six grandchildren, Jason Escamilla and wife Misty, Thomas Grimes and wife Jamie, Emma Grimes, Hailey, Micah, and Ethan Escamilla; five great grandchildren, Jake, John and Gary Escamilla, Aiden and Brooklyn Grimes; three sisters, Elyner Hernandez, Ada Martinez and Joann Gonzales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Roque Escamilla; wife, Antonia; infant, David; sisters, Gloria Reyes, Dollie Reyes, and Alice Rangel.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with interment following at the Italy Cemetery.
