Jackie Bruton

Jackie Robert Bruton, 81 years of age, was born to Ruth Inez and Johnnie Robert "JR" Bruton on the 25th of March 1937 in Olney, Young county, Texas. Jackie passed away at his daughter's home in Palmer, Texas surrounded by his family on Friday, the 6th of April, 2018, at 3:44pm. This last year he had been battling with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma as well as Leukemia. Jackie graduated from Throckmorton High School where he was a member of the FFA and enjoyed participation in the numerous activities provided by the FFA and winning several awards. Jackie was also a member of the Elbert Baptist Church in Elbert, Texas.

Jackie was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Shirlaine Shaw Bruton; his father, JR Bruton; his stepmother, Floyce Bruton; his mother, Inez Hammond Smith; his step father, Edward Smith; his brother, Ronnie Smith; also by his daughter, Shannon Singleton.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Faye Kindred Bruton; his daughters, Eva Nanette Moyers and husband, Mark of Waxahachie, J'Lynn Bruton Olah and husband Tom of Muenster, Texas, Pamela Gail Hendricks and husband Shannon of Palmer, Texas; sons, "Bob" Jackie Robert Bruton II and wife Lindsay of Waxahachie, Texas, Mark Singleton and wife Stephanie of Waxahachie, Texas; his brothers, Phil Smith, Jimmy Smith and J. D. Bruton.

Jackie married Peggy Shirlaine Shaw on the 27th of March 1958 in Abilene, Texas. Jackie and Shirlaine had three daughters, Nanette, J'Lynn, and Pamela. After Shirlaine's passing, Jackie married Linda Faye Kindred on the 1st of October 1976. Jackie and Linda had one son, Bob. Jackie was blessed with Seventeen grandchildren, Krystina Scoggins, John Goodwin, Clint Goodwin, Rachel Hare, Jennifer Hendricks, Laura Hendricks, Christy Dalen, Brandon Hendricks, Mitchell Hendricks, Paige Williams, Jace Bruton, Jaxson Bruton, Rafe Gray, Tatum Gray , Mason Singleton, Mallory Singleton and Shelby Singleton. Five great grandchildren Ollie Recksiek, Loralye Scoggins, Peyton Wintin, Madison Dalen, Levi Hendricks.

During Jackie's travel he has taken under his tutelage, numerous young men, and taught them about farming, ranching, harvesting and life in general. One of these young men who has become a member of the family is Mark Singleton. Mark has been an endearing part of the family and like a son to Jackie and Linda, and a brother to their children. Jackie was a family man who was never too busy to share his knowledge with his family or friends. He was always willing to take time to help others who needed some advice or direction.

Jackie and Linda were currently residing in Saint jo, Texas. Jackie enjoyed hunting on "the farm" at Bulcher, Texas and was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of his spare time on lakes, Possum Kingdom and Texoma. Jackie would hook up to his camper and boat and go to the lake whenever the chance arose. He loved to be around family and friends and to show off his catch. He even had a couple of articles in Texas fish and game magazine.

Jackie was a hardworking and well-respected business man who didn't know the words it can't be done. He could build about anything which included tooling dies for manufacturing, and there wasn't much he couldn't repair even if it took some bailing wire and duct tape. One thing was for sure if "Dad" couldn't fix it when he gave up "NO ONE" could fix it.

Jackie started out life raised on a farm in Throckmorton, Texas and continued farming before going to work in the oilfields. Later Jackie started a custom harvesting business which he did for over 20 years. He did that in the spring and summer of every year traveling from panhandle of North Texas to south Texas. In the fall and winter months, he had ranching and farming business that kept him very busy. After marrying Linda and moving from Miles, TX to Waxahachie, TX, Jackie started B&B Farm Supply, selling and servicing farming equipment, he also ran a truck repair shop in Red Oak, Tx. Jackie bought a marina in east Texas on Toledo Bend Lake and operated it for a short time before taking a job in Muenster, Texas as a maintenance engineer and moving to Saint Jo. Later Jackie worked as a utility inspector over the installation of pipelines in the oilfields of Texas.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Avenue Church in Waxahachie.
