Jack Barefield

Jack Stanley Barefield was born July 19, 1933 in Mexia, Texas to Ervin Stanley Barefield and Leona Mae McKenzie Barefield. He passed away in Waxahachie on Monday, January 30, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie. A private graveside service will be held at the City Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.

Jack graduated from high school in Colorado City, Texas and obtained his BA degree from TCU in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, then attended SMU Law School. He was employed by State Farm Insurance from 1958-1990. Jack sang in the barbershop group that later became the Vocal Majority. He also loved trains, he rode Amtrak several times all over the United States. Jack collected railroad china for many years and enjoyed going to railroad shows in various states.

Jack married Lynda Chalk Welch on June 19, 1999 in Waxahachie. He attended First Baptist Church and really enjoyed his many friends in the Fellowship Class. They will remember him for his sharp wit and great sense of humor.

Jack is survived by his wife, Lynda and her two children, Carolyn Rachaner and husband Mark of Lantana and their four children and Brian Howard and wife Joy of Waco and their two children. He is also survived by his first cousins, Margaret Burrows, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Dr. Williams A. Ferguson of Guffy, Colorado.

Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie is in charge of the arrangements.
