J. Eddie McCarley, III passed away on January 31, 2020 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Ed was born Sept. 14, 1948 in Dallas Tx to Inez and J. Eddie McCarley, JR. (Mac). Ed spent his life protecting and serving others. He was a proud Navy Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Following his military service, he returned to Texas and pursued a career in law enforcement where he became a highly decorated peace officer. His years of service with the Cedar Hill Police Department, the Duncanville Police Department, the Addison Police Department and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department were marked by praise and recognition from his peers and the communities he served. His law enforcement career was marked by promotions, commendations and awards too numerous to list. Also too numerous to list are the lives he touched as a public servant, first responder, educator, instructor and mentor.
He loved the great outdoors whether it was spending time on his farm in Ennis, Tx, or hunting with family and friends. He loved his family dearly, but most importantly loved God.
He married Wanda McCarley in 1978. Although they divorced the family bond was never broken. They celebrated life together as dear friends and devoted parents.
He is survived by his 3 Children, Rhonda Bradford and her husband Mickey of Barry, Tx , J. Eddie McCarley, IV and Wife Wendy of Australia, and James McCarley and wife Kara of Grand Prairie, Tx., Grandchildren Meghan Simpson, Ashley Hicks and Joshua Bradford; Great Grandchildren Mason, Aubrey and Charlotte; his sisters Nicki Shaw and Patti Barnett; nephews Ronnie, Larry, Jerry, Jacob and niece Chelsea.
He was proceeded in Death by his mother, Inez McCarley, Father Mac McCarley, and Rose McCarley.
A service celebrating his life is scheduled for February 22, 2020 at 10 am in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie, Texas
In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Maypearl United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 246 Maypearl, TX 76064or Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA.org.
