J Jenkins

December 4, 1937 — September 20, 2017

J. B. Jenkins, 79, left for his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Baylor Scott & White Hospital of Waxahachie following a prolonged battle with renal failure.

He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Margaret (Almand) Jenkins; his daughter, Dr. Judy Reel and her husband, Mark Reel; his daughter, Grace Diane Jenkins; his niece, Cindy Howard Langford and her husband Clark Langford; three grandchildren, Nathan Reel and his wife Jena, Valerie Lincoln and her husband, Dr. Hamilton Lincoln III, John Reel and his wife Sarah Dana; 3 great-grandchildren, Will Lincoln, Alex Lincoln and Connor Lincoln; 2 grand-nephews, Derek Howard, Adam Chandler and many close friends.

Born in Ellis County and raised in Sterrett and Waxahachie, the son of Sam and Grace (Canada) Jenkins, was a lifelong resident of the Waxahachie area. In his early years, J.B. attended Marvin Elementary where he met his childhood sweetheart on the rural school bus. J.B. graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1956. He attended Texas Tech University for one year. He then married his sweetheart Margaret upon her graduation from Waxahachie High school in 1958. He later finished his bachelor's degree at the University of Texas at Dallas.

J.B. worked for Collins Radio in Richardson for many years as an Electrical Engineer. J.B. was widely known for his expertise in Collins Radio equipment. He published articles in Amateur Radio enthusiast publications and restored vintage Collins Radio equipment. He was known by his operator call signs of W5YPX and later W5EU.

J.B. was a deep man of faith and he had a passion for serving his Lord Jesus Christ. J.B. was a deacon at the Longbranch Community Baptist in Midlothian and worked through The Gideons International to spread the good news of Jesus Christ prior to succumbing to the latter stages of his illness. J.B. will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Funeral services were held at Longbranch Community Baptist in Midlothian on Saturday September 23 from Wayne Boze Funeral Home of Waxahachie, followed by with graveside service and interment at Red Oak Cemetery.
