Ira Edward Johnson December 14, 1958 October 26, 2010 Ira Edward Johnson of Waxahachie Texas, our Loving Dad and Grandad was promoted to Glory on October 26, 2010. Born to Parents H.W. and Florene Johnson on December 14, 1958 in Dallas, Texas . Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Johnson; his brother, Ricky Johnson, his granddaughter, Lillian Claire. Ira is survived by his wife, Marygrace Johnson; his daughters and their spouses, Jennifer Johnson, Stacey and Corey Roberts, Lora Johnson and Steven De Los Santos; his brothers, sisters and their spouses, Tim and Paula Johnson, Mark Johnson and Natalie Borchers, Mike Johnson, Linda Johnson; his grandchildren, Destiney, Daisey Johnson, Dylan Edward Roberts; his nieces and nephews, Melissa, Amber, Mathew, Riley; nephew and his spouse, Daniel and Nicole Johnson; brothers and sisters in law, Michael and Mary Crawford, Thomas and Liz Holland and a multitude of friends he called his family. Ira grew up and attended the Cedar Hill Schools. Ira retired, from The Salvation Army in 2005 as the Facilities Director at Camp Hoblitzelle, due to the diagnosis of his serious illness which started in 2004. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, cooking, working with his hands, visiting with neighbors and friends, and especially passing on these interests to his adored children and grandchildren. Ira will be deeply missed by many and remembered as a righteous man, a tireless worker, and faithful servant. He fought the good fight, chose a good name rather than riches; we are comforted with the assurance of his heavenly reward. Visitation with family and friends will be held Friday October 29, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at 620 Farley Street, Waxahachie, and will last until service time. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center on Friday, October 29, 2010. Interment will follow at the Rosemont Cemetery in Waxahachie.
