Imogene H. Dawson, 89 of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 in an Arlington hospital. She was born to the late Jess Hamilton and Lucy Thornton Hamilton on February 13, 1923 in Grant, Oklahoma. Imogene loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed sewing quilts and crocheting. She donated many of her quilts to the orphanage and the children were always so happy to receive them. Imogene loved to cook and spend time with her family. No one could cook quite as well as she could. She retired from Whataburger to enjoy more time with her family and gardening. She is survived by her son, Larry Dawson and his wife, Dee of DeSoto; her daughter, Phillis Gonzales of Dallas; her friend, Vicki Shaw and Gary of Rowlett; she is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, David Dawson and Martha, Deanna Dawson Guillen and Silver, Leslie Dawson, and Tony and Chris Gonzales; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Eugene Dawson; her daughter, Paula Kay Wesson; by 2 brothers, Lawrence Hamilton and Leon Hamilton; and also by her sister, Erma Dean Hamilton. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Bro. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Laurel Oaks Cemetery, Dallas.
