Hugh Lane Chambers earned her heavenly wings on Wednesday, January 12 to be with the love of her life.
Hugh Lane was born to Jim S Meharg and Addie Bell Eason Meharg on August 30, 1941 in Waxahachie, Tx. She was raised in Italy and graduated from Italy High School in 1959 as the Class Valedictorian.
She married Hubert Chambers, her High School sweetheart, on November 27, 1959. Together, they had two children, Janet and Steven.
Hugh Lane worked for Texas Instruments. She then went to work for Huskins Drive-In for 30 years. Hugh Lane and Hubert purchased Huskins and it became H&H Grocery, which served the people of Waxahachie until 2019. She loved owning the store and seeing all of her customers every day.
Hugh Lane was a devoted Christian. She played the piano, sang in the choir and taught VBS as a member at South Prong Baptist Church for 40 years. She then joined South Lake Baptist Church where she was a member until her declining health.
Hugh Lane is survived by her children, Janet Napps and husband Bobby, Steven Chambers and wife Cheryl; grandchildren Laura Black and husband Jeremy, Justin Chambers and wife Jackie, Chris Napps and girlfriend CJ, Stephanie Chambers, and Leanna Napps; great grandchildren Sarah, Kaelanni, Allison, Zenobia and Emerson.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Hubert Chambers, her parents, brother James Meharg, sister Frances Evans and fur babies Mac and Candy.
Pallbearers will be Justin Chambers, Chris Napps, Alton Chambers, Bobby Chambers, Jeremy Black, and Jackie Chambers.
