Hugh Ray

Hugh Ray of Grandview, departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2013. He was born in Newport, Arkansas December 14, 1947 to the late McMillen and Polly Ray. Hugh was a 1966 graduate of Tuckerman High School. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. He married Miss Mary Simpson on September 5, 1970. The couple made their home in Grandview, .Texas where they raised their son and daughter and enjoyed family and friends. Hugh retired from Gerdau Ameristeel of Midlothian and was a custom hay baler. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Grandview. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Grandview. Hugh's greatest love was God, his family and his special love and joy was his grandsons, Gavin and Hudson Ray. Hugh was a kind and generous man, dearly loved by his family and many friends. He enjoyed being able to help others. He will be truly missed. Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Simpson Ray of Grandview; his son, James McMillen Ray and his wife, Elizabeth of Burleson; his daughter, Kari Rebecca Ray of Grandview; his grandsons, Gavin Alexander Ray and Hudson Xzaiver Ray, both of Burleson; his brother, James Ray of Oneco, FL; his sisters, Judy Turner of Mooresville, IN, Jean Burleson of Martinsville, IN; his mother-in-law, Audrey Simpson of Newport, Arkansas; and several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends. Services to celebrate Hugh's life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Grandview with Rev. Russell Allen Officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Grandview.
