Howard Nolan Westbrook
Our precious husband, father, PaPa and friend took his final flight Sunday. We love you so much and will carry you with us in our hearts for the rest of our earthly life. We will remember your love for animals, cars, motorcyles and most of all us.
Nolan had a full and wonderful life. He was born at home in Barry, Texas on a snowy March night. He graduated high school from Byrd-Rankin and attended Baylor University where he played football. During WWII he was a flight instructor for the Navy. He flew for Braniff International Airways for 37 years.
While at Braniff he met and married the girl of his dreams. He was fondly referred to as Captain Dolly Westbrook.
He was preceded in death by his precious nephews, DonnieWestbrook and Jeff Griffin. Also with him in heaven are his parents, Frank and Robbie Westbrook, along with brothers, Allen Westbrook and Alvis Westbrook, and sister, Lourene Emery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Jane Westbrook, daughter and son in law: Jane and Paul Shafer; grandchildren who adored their PaPa, Martha Jane, Sam, Amy and Andrew Nolan Shafer; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Wanda Westbrook; and sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Giles Edwards as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Nolan never met a stranger... To all those who gave Nolan such wonderful and compassionate care through Baylor Waxahachie and Dallas hospital and those who were his personal caregivers, we thank you and appreciate your tender care of both Nolan and Martha. We are forever grateful.
Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 05, 2003, at 11 AM, officiatied by Rev. Jerry E. Hill of St. Paul Episcopal Church at Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie, Texas.
