Howard Morgan

November 20, 1927 — January 5, 2018

Howard Lee Morgan was born on November 20, 1927 and died on January 5, 2018. Howard was born at the family farm in Italy, Texas to Samuel Clark Morgan and Opal Stansbury Morgan. Howard was the oldest of six children. He had two brothers; Gerald Morgan and Wayne Morgan. He had three sisters, Jean Hays, Charlene McDonald (spouse Don), Wanda Sevier (spouse Killian).

Howard graduated from high school at the age of 16 and was the valedictorian of his class. He voluntarily joined the navy during World War II. In 1951, Howard became a firefighter with the Dallas Fire Department and worked at Stations 11, 54 and 46. He retired from the fire department in 1978.

Howard married Irma Cunningham in 1956 and they were married for 61 years. They were blessed with two sons, Russell (spouse Donna) and George. They had 6 grandchildren; Lacy Brown (spouse Gary), Kelly Webb, Mark Morgan (spouse Lyndsay), Greg Morgan, Matt Beddoe (spouse Sarah), Misty Warren (spouse Phil). Blessings continued with 9 great grandchildren, Easton Brown, Kaityn Brown and Morgan Brown; Ryleigh Webb and Braden Webb; Jessica Warren; William Beddoe and Olivia Beddoe.

Howard was predeceased by his parents, his brother Wayne and a son
Thomas Lee Morgan.

Howard shared his love of golf with his son, Rusty and the annual father/son weekend with George at Camp Stewart. He and Irma enjoyed traveling in their motor home and made many trips to Kerrville and Camp Stewart to visit George. They also visited Colorado, Alabama and Florida. Howard especially enjoyed taking Lacy, Kelly, Mark and Greg in the motorhome for "short" trips to enjoy the countryside.

Howard was a member of Central Baptist Church in Italy for many decades.
Howard was a past President of the Lions Club of Italy. He was a Deacon at Central Baptist Church . He was once the Fire Commissioner of Italy. Howard was a member of the Dallas Retired Firefighters Association.

Honorary pallbearers are Gene Williams, Weldon Holley, Farrell Smithey, Mark Morgan, Greg Morgan, Matt Beddoe and Easton Brown.

A memorial service for Howard will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, 2:00 pm, at
Central Baptist Church in Italy. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow.
