Howard Lynn Davis, 72 of Red Oak, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Charles H. and Mable L. Dillard Davis on February 21, 1938 in Palmer. Howard enjoyed singing, drawing,writing and telling stories. He was proud to be a published poet. Howard loved coaching youth sports in Football, basketball and especially baseball where he taught sportmanship and faith in God. His passion was western movies and books and was even an extra in the Hollywood movie, "Bonnie & Clyde" along with other volunteer fireman in Red Oak in the mid 60's.Howard worked for Trego Industries for 32 years and later in life, enjoyed working and helping families at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Red Oak. He was a member of the Lions Club, was a volunteer fireman and served on the Red Oak School board. Howard was also very passionate about his ministry and the care of others. He was an ordained minister; served as a Deacon and Elder in the church of Christ and was also involved in the prison ministry. All those that knew and loved Howard will miss his stories, his laugh and great attitude towards life. Howard made friends everywhere he went and leaves behind so many who will always remember him. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Stanford Davis of Red Oak; his sons, Brent Scott Davis, Nathan Lynn Davis and his wife, Nancy, Charles Kent Davis and his wife, Sylvia, David Anthony Davis and his wife, Lynn, all of Red Oak; his brothers, Fred Davis of Combine and Floyd Davis of Princeton. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Jenny, Wesley, Cole, Hillary, Hunter, Brittany, Holly, Dana and Kaley.He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Irene Davis. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Creekside Church of Christ with Steve Oliver and Alan Tappe officiating. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.
