Eugene Head, 90 of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Waxahachie. He was born in Cleburne, Texas to Marion Randolph Head and Grace Mae Kirkham.
He was a graduate of Cleburne High School and Texas Christian University of Ft. Worth. He was a teacher and coach in Cleburne, Ennis, Red Oak and Waxahachie schools where he influenced lives for 40 years. He was a pilot and Officer in the United States Air Force during WWII. Gene was a member of the IOOF Lodge of Ennis, serving as Grand Master of the State of Texas during the year of 2000.
He was married to Mary Cato of Ennis for 39 years. She preceded him in death in 1991. He was also preceded by his parents; 5 brothers, Vernon Head of Carmel, CA, Clyde Head of Cleburne, Harold Head of Cleburne, Charles Head of Cleburne, Morris Head of Waxahachie; also by one sister, Vivian Freeman Waxahachie.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his sister, Rowena; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gene never had any children of his own but he always said he raised 30,000 plus kids throughout his years of teaching and coaching.
A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of one's choice.
