Herbert Alva Rogers, age 93

Mr. Rogers passed away Monday afternoon at the Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born in Douglas, TX. to William R. and Mary (Sanders) Rogers. He married Mildred Strawn in March of 1940 in Oklahoma. Mr. Rogers was a construction foreman for Dalton Construction and the City of Dallas. He had lived in the Dallas area since 1938 but moved to Red Oak in 1996 to be with his daughter, Pat. He was a member of the Oak Cliff Masonic Lodge #705. According to his family, he loved to fish.

His survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Troy Sanders of Statesville, NC, Jerry and Fredda Rogers, also of Statesville, NC, "Buddy" Herbert and Joyce Rogers of Atlanta, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Andrew Henson of Red Oak; brother and sister-in-law, William R. and Eleanor Rogers of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Rita Smith of Granbury, TX; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, six sisters, and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 PM Wednesday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Thursday, April 13, 2006, in the Red Oak Chapel with speaker, Teresa Henson, eulogizing Mr. Rogers and Charles Henson doing remembrances. Oak Cliff Lodge, #705, will conduct the Masonic Service. Pallbearers will be Jerry Rogers, Buddy Rogers, Charles Henson, Andrew Henson, Seth Cazares, and Steven Tamez. Interment will follow at Laurel Land, Dallas.
