Proverbs 31:25-31 describes the lady that Helen represented in life. “Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her. Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
The love she shared through the open door that was always her home. Helen was a lady of unwavering faith in the Living God, who lives today because of the grace given through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Helen Louise Sims was born September 27, 1942 to J.D. and Louise Kirk in Galveston, TX. She was the youngest of four in a house of love and labor. Their love lasted through droughts, bumper crops, recessions, rodeo’s and three sons, Heath, Britt and Glenn. The wife of a farmer and rancher was not always easy but taking three boys to Mrs. Rilla’s shopping took a special soul, and she was just that, a special soul.

After stepping down from her role with TP&L she began the toughest job of her life, raising the wrecking crew. In 1985 she became the Church Secretary for First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie and served in that role for 22 years. After retiring from FUMC, Daryl Nay offered her a job at the Nay Company where she worked full time for almost 15 years until April 2022. In her spare time she loved writing personalized poems as gifts to her family.
She was preceded into eternal life by her Savior Jesus Christ, her parents J.D. and Louise Kirk, her in-laws J.H. and Jimmie Sims. She is survived by her husband J.B.
