Diane Henley, 71, of Waxahachie, passed away after a short illness at Baylor Scott and White Hospital, Waxahachie, Texas on Thursday, June 1 and is now in the glorious presence of her dear Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on September 7, 1945 in Marlin, Texas and was a 1964 graduate of Waxahachie High School. She obtained education degrees from Howard Payne University and Texas Woman's University. She was a special education teacher for various school districts for over 30 years, the majority being for Waxahachie Independent School District. After retirement, she actively served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and served on the Board of Directors of Common Ground Ministries. She enjoyed performing with the Ellis County Singers. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church Waxahachie, teaching Sunday School for children and adults, singing in the choir, and serving wherever there was a need. She also had a passion for spreading the gospel to places outside Texas, going on mission trips to Ukraine, Guatemala, and Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and LaVerne Henley and her sister-in-law Patricia Henley.
She is survived by her brother Donald Henley, of Waxahachie; brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Carol Henley of Kingwood, Texas; niece Shelley Vineyard and her daughter Ashlyne of Kingwood, Texas; niece Susan Henley of Waxahachie; nephew Jason Henley and his wife Terri, and their children Gabrielle and Tyler of Atascocita, Texas; nephew Mark Henley and his wife Christine, and their son Patrick of Denton, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 5, 2017 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Common Ground Ministries or the First Baptist Church Organ Fund.
