Helen Jo Blatt, better known as Nanny, lived in Waxahachie, Texas, when she received her well-deserved angel wings, on April 1, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, September 14, 1940, to Herbert Franklin Powers (Pop) and Ruth Violet Powers (Grandma). She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1959.
In her early years, she worked for Pollock Paper Company, eventually going on to retire from Army Airforce Exchange Service; but being an extremely gifted seamstress was her true labor of love. She met Wayne Blatt and they married, later moving to Pennsylvania where she spread her love and kindness to all who met her. Upon returning to Waxahachie, in 2009, she became a very active member of the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, spending precious time with ladies' ministries, including Joy Walkers and her Unity Connect Group. Throughout all her years she left a lasting impression of love in all the hearts she touched.
Knowing that she is resting comfortably with her Maker brings peace to those she is survived by. This includes her children, Cheryl Krueger and husband Johnny, Kristi Heasley and husband David, Kim Blatt and wife Lori, and Melanie Bare, her brother, Bobby Powers, and sister-in-law Gail Powers. Her grandchildren, Hailey Barfield and husband Kyle, Kasey Biggs and husband Jarrad, Madison and Chloe Heasley, Nathan Blatt and wife Megan, Kiefer Blatt and wife Alexis and Tanner Blatt. Her great grandchildren, Emeri and Easton Barfield, Cooper and Chandler Biggs, and Noah Blatt. She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Blatt, her parents, her brother Tommy Powers and her sister Margaret Dean.
Family and friends can find comfort in knowing they have a devoted guardian angel watching over them from heaven until they meet again.
“The Lord said, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you more responsibilities. Let us celebrate together!’”
