Hazel Irene (King) Murphy of Waxahachie passed away Thursday evening January 22, 2004 at Renfro Healthcare Center in Waxahachie. Hazel was born August 16, 1924 in Vernon, Texas to Rufus Archey and Minnie Zola King.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin G. (Buddy) Murphy in 1966 and raised her family in DeSoto later moving to Waxahachie.

She retired after many years of service in the DeSoto and Waxahachie Independent School Districts as a cafeteria worker.

She was a loving member of Northside Church of Christ in Waxahachie.

Hazel is survived by her children: Glen Murphy and his wife Judy of Mesquite, Sharon Lynn Turner and her husband Jimmy of Waxahachie, Sandy Markey and her husband Robert of Allen; two sisters Inez Anderson of Dallas and Mozelle Reeves of Lake Dallas; grandchildren, Max Murphy of Mesquite, Joshua Glenn Markey and his wife Linda of Belton, MO., Robin Markey of Allen and Shannon and Jacob Turner of Waxahachie; one great grandchild, Ryan Anthony Markey of Belton, MO.

Hazel was a very giving person and her kindness, kisses and hugs will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday January 25, 2004 from 4PM to 5PM at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 1 PM Monday January 26, 2004 at Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas with Reverend Owen Cosgrove officiating. Interment will be at 1 PM at Laurel Land in Dallas.
