Harry Kenneth Gilbert, age 84
October 5, 1920
March 5, 2005

Mr. Gilbert passed away Saturday at his Waxahachie residence. He was born in Chambersburg, PA. To William Roy and Francis Luella (Finkenbinder) Gilbert.
He served in the US Army during WWII in the Phillipines where he was a TSgt. T-5.
Harry married Ruth Helen Keller August 31, 1940 in Winchester, VA. He moved to Temple, Texas in 1958 from Winnsboro, LA., to Waxahachie in 1961, to Jacksboro in 1963 and then back to Waxahachie in 1969. Mr. Gilbert was a member of the American Legion, First United Methodist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. He loved to fish and travel.

Survivors are: sons, Harry Gilbert, Jr. and wife DeWanna of Winnsboro, LA., Ray Gilbert and wife Salley of Aledo, and Eddie Gilbert and wife Debbie of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Cheyenne, Sierra, Zachery, Hollye and Nicklas Gilbert, and Jeremy Williford; great grandchildren, Thomas Gilbert and Jake Williford. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Helen Keller on June 2, 2002; brothers, Richard, William, Walter, John and Donald; sisters, Dorothy Varner and Catherine Plunge.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 3 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Reed and Kevin Wilson officiating. Pallbearers will be Zachery Gilbert, Nicklas Gilbert, Jeremy Williford, Bill Gilbert, Dave Reid and Melvin Loveless. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fidelis Sunday School Class members. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Bible and Hymnal Replacement Fund.
