Gwendolyn Hood

Gwendolyn Petruy Hood was born in Rogers, Texas to Frank and Roxie Copeland Petruy on November 25, 1924. She graduated from Rogers High School as Valedictorian and after Business School, went to work for Shell during World War II. She later moved to Dallas where she met her husband, Jack E. Hood whom she was married to for 66 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Finta and husband, Csaba Finta and extended family, Edward and Robert Finta, their wives and children; son, Jack E. Hood, III and wife Cyndi, grandchildren, Laura Hood Hesse and husband, Jon, Brian T. Hood and wife, Ashley and great grandchildren.

As the children were growing up, Gwen was involved in Campfire when Karla was a Bluebird and in Scouting as a Den Mother for son Rusty. She enjoyed working with the PTA and was awarded a Life Membership in the Texas PTA. She is a member of the Ovilla Garden Club and was awarded a life membership in The Texas State Garden Club. She was also a member of the Oak Cliff Woman's Club. She and Jack were active members of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla for over 30 years.

Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vernon Sansom officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
