Gustavo "Gus" Torrez, 53, of Waxahachie, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his residence. He was born to Mucio and Paula Rivera Torres on August 4, 1955 in McAllen, Texas.
Gus loved cars and enjoyed his show car. He enjoyed swords, dancing, and singing. He loved working at Wal-Mart in maintenance in Waxahachie and Midlothian and everyone loved Gus. He loved life and loved every day he had. Everyone could see that Gus was very excited about life and living for the Lord. He enjoyed reading his bible and praying. There are so many who loved Gus and will miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Torrez of Waxahachie; his mother, Paula Torres of Waxahachie; his brothers, Carlos Torres and his wife, Alice of Waxahachie, Lupe Torres and his wife, Nellie of McKinney, Roland Torres and his wife, Yolanda of Lubbock, Armando Torres of Lubbock, and Lorenzo Torres of Lubbock; his sisters, Lucie Littlejohn of Waxahachie and Conni Torres of DeSoto; mother-in-law, Rita Benge of Keller; sister-in-laws, Leah Phillips and her husband, Russell of Keller, Leslie Thornton and her husband, Randy of Schertz, Texas; he is also survived by close friends and co-workers of Wal-Mart in Waxahachie and Midlothian.
Gus was preceded in death by his father, Mucio Torres, Sr., his brothers, Mucio Torres, Jr. and Esequiel Torres; his grandmother, Esther Ramirez; and by his father-in-law, Bill Benge.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
