Gregory Allen Compton

September 22, 1963 — April 4, 2025

Waxahachie, Texas

Greg Compton Sr., a Cleaning and Restoration professional, lifelong entrepreneur, and proud Waxahachie resident, died Friday, April 4, 2025, with his family by his side at the age of 61 at Baylor Hospital.

Greg is survived by his father, Robert Compton; his wife, Ginger Compton; his children, Robert, Greg Jr., David, and Cody Compton; as well as numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Genevia Compton, and his sister, Cindy Compton.

Greg was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 22, 1963, to Robert and Genevia Compton. He graduated from TCJC in 1986 with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Greg was always known for his incredible work ethic and hustling spirit in both his work and daily life even as a kid. He worked from his pre-teen years doing odd jobs and anything he could to make extra cash to help his family. He started in the early ’80s stocking groceries for Safeway Supermarkets and rapidly worked his way into management. He had a reputation as a man who would always get the job done and find a way to make things happen.

In 1991, Greg and Ginger Compton took that entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic and started Compton’s Carpet Cleaning and Restoration. Greg went from using a rented portable carpet cleaner to, a few years later, running a thriving, multi-truck cleaning and restoration operation. All of Greg's sons, and a good bit of his family, worked with him through the years in the business, and two of his sons have made cleaning and restoration their careers as well.

Greg was a natural businessman, entrepreneur, hustler, and money maker. He operated his business with passion and a desire to be the absolute best. Compton’s is now Ellis County’s oldest operating cleaning and restoration company and has won “Best in Class” for many years running, as well as Small Business of the Year and countless other business and quality awards.

Greg was an avid fisherman and loved being at the lake with his friends, who he considered family. The only thing that rivaled Greg’s work ethic was his sense of humor he was a joker, instigator, and all-around lighthearted guy. Greg’s wit, banter, and comedic streak were passed down to his sons and grandsons.

He was a collector of all things cool and unique. To walk through his house was like taking a museum tour, and he loved showing his collections and passion for unique items to anyone who visited his home. He loved his ’57 Chevy Bel Air, his Corvette, and many other cars he had through the years. He loved country music, classic rock, gospel, soul, almost any music that stirred his soul or made him move. He loved his Dallas Cowboys, his Texas Rangers, and all things Texas.

He was a patriot and a proud American, dedicating a good bit of time to helping found the Ellis County Honor Flight program for WWII veterans.

Greg was also a strong man of faith. He knew the Bible as well as most pastors and would speak of his Christian faith and salvation with zeal and unashamed rigor.
