Glenda Hicks

On Sunday, January 25, 2015, Glenda Karen White Hicks of Italy, Texas passed from this life into the loving arms of her Savior following an illness. She was born in Waxahachie, Texas on August 20, 1944 to Arlin White and Mittie Bowren. She was a graduate of Waxahachie High School. On December 20, 1971, Glenda married Billy Ray Hicks. At her death, the Hicks were members of the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, Texas. In her 30-year career with Southwestern Life Insurance Co. in Dallas and later as an employee with the Ellis County Appraisal District, she held the distinction of having never taken a sick day. She was a very tender, quiet spirit, and she never passed up the opportunity to help someone in need. She loved attending church, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glenda was pre-deceased by her father, Arlin White. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Karen Eves (Jim) of Allen, TX, Jill Eves Howard of Waxahachie, Bryan Hicks (Vera) of Cedar Hill, TX, and Melissa Hicks Rafay (Randy) of Bartlett, TX; mother, Mittie Bowren; brother, Larry White (Pat); and sister, Debbie White Allen (Gary) all of Waxahachie; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Terrie Jordan for her tender care and attention to Glenda's needs during the last stages of her illness. Terrie was a true God-send, reading passages of Scripture for Glenda and praying with her everyday. Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. Highway 287 Business, Waxahachie. A celebration of Glenda's life will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10 am.
