Gilliam Southard

Gilliam F. Southard, 83, went to the Lord peacefully on Friday Sept. 18, 2015 at Trinity Nursing Home in Italy, Texas. He was born May 3, 1932 in Avalon, Texas to Alvin J.Southard and Ruby Lee (Williams)Southard. He married Barbara Ann Browning on Dec. 31, 1953 and lived in Waxahachie, Texas. Gilliam was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Tyler Refrigeration after 43 years. Gilliam was proceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nieta Fern Phillips and Martha Minor, and brother in law Edward Browning. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara, son Gil Southard and wife Debbie of Midlothian; two grandchildren, Adam Southard of Valrico, Florida and Bridget McCasland and husband Brent of Navarre, Florida. He is also survived by John Browning and wife Rethea of Tucson, Arizona, Bob Browning of Waxahachie, Charles Browning and wife Dixie of Waxahachie,Pat Freeman of Waxahachie, and Faye Browning of Cedar Hill. Also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Trinity Nursing and Rehab and Family First Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6pm to 8pm Monday, Sept 21, 2015 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie. Funeral service will be held at 10am Tuesday, Sept 22, 2015 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home and Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
