Alice Geraldine Pogue, age 84
December 25, 1920
July 5, 2005


Mrs. Pogue, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Tuesday evening at Red Oak Health and Rehab. She was born in Gunter, Texas to Roger and Edna May (Love) Giles. She attended Ovilla and Red Oak Schools. She and Horace Pogue were married December 24, 1940 in Milford, Texas. She was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she kept the nursery and sang in the choir.
She was a housewife and a very good pie maker. Her specialties were chocolate, coconut and caramel.

She is survived by: son, Steve Pogue of Ovilla; daughter, Rita Shaha of Ovilla; sisters, Faye Thompson of Richardson; Lila Wilson of Waxahachie; two grandchildren, Hayley Pogue and Ryan Shaha, who were the light of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Horace Pogue in 1999; son, Kenneth Pogue; brothers, Herman Giles and D.W. Giles; sister Othello Walker.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 Thursday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 2 PM Friday, July 8, 2005 at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7810 Shiloh Rd., Midlothian, TX. with Reverend Duane Dougherty and Reverend Keith Rice officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Jackson, Gary Giles, Perry Giles, Kerry Wilson, Jon Wilson and Dick Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Bobby Oliver, Billy Pickard, Eugene McLemore. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home in Denton.
