Georgie Lillian (Pavlat) Smesny of Midlothian, TX passed away on April 4, 2023 at the age of 87.
Georgie was born in Granger, TX on July 15, 1935 to Lillian and Cyril Pavlat. She attended school in Holland, TX. In 1954, she married Max Smesny. Because of Max’s work, they made their homes in several places including Irving, TX, Houston, TX, Portland, TX, and Ewa Beach, HI before moving to Midlothian, TX in 1971.
Georgie was a loving mother who prioritized family above all else. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, bird watching, sewing and reading. Georgie settled into farming and ranching and has lived on the same property for 52 years. She was a homemaker until her sons were grown then went to work for The Social Security Administration until retirement. Upon retiring, she and Max bought a travel trailer and had numerous adventures traveling across the United States. They traveled abroad to Peru and England. They enjoyed cruises visiting Puerto Rico, Jamaica the Panama Canal, Alaska and other destinations. On a more recent trip Georgie toured Jerusalem and the Holy Lands with her sister Margie and church friends.
Georgie was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was active in many groups throughout the years.
Georgie was preceded in death by her husband Max, son Michael, and sister Rosalie Pavlat.
Georgie is survived by four sons, Ron Smesny and wife Eva, Mark Smesny and wife Elizabeth, Gregory Smesny, and Craig Smesny; eight grandchildren, Jason Smesny and wife Cassie, Stephen Smesny and wife Christy, Bryan Smesny and wife Blakely, Staff Sergeant Maxwell Smesny and wife Christin, Ben Smesny, Lilliana Lucky and husband Luke, Mitchell Smesny, and Jordan Smesny; five great grandchildren, Grayson Smesny, Collin Smesny, Branch Smesny, Josiah Adams, and Silas Smesny; siblings, Margie Kohring and Dr. William Pavlat.
Interment will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
