Georgia Wakeland

Georgia Jean Yarbrough Wakeland passed away March 2nd, 2023 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born January 17th, 1934 in Waco Texas to late parents George Walker Yarbrough and Flora Lowe. She attended school in Italy Texas and married Henry Lee Wakeland Jr on July 6th, 1953.

Jean enjoyed traveling, playing games with friends, and spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and served in any way she could.

Jean is survived by her loving husband Henry Lee Wakeland Jr, as well as her daughter Jeana Williams, son-in-law Randy Williams and son Jimmy Wakeland. Jean is also lovingly remembered by her granddaughters Jennifer Harvey and Whitney Wakeland, and great-grandchildren Gavin Harvey, Jazlyn Harvey, Alyssa Harvey, and Cain Harvey. Jean adored her great-great-grandchildren, Harlo Harvey and River Ryburn. Jean will be dearly remembered by friends who were made family, Judy Williams and LaRue Dyess, as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd Yarbrough, Olen Yarbrough & wife Edna, G.W. “Dood” Yarbrough & wife Frances.

Services will be held March 9th, 2023, 11:00am at Northside Church of Christ in Waxahachie Texas. Bruce Martin, minister of Whitney Church of Christ will be officiating alongside Walter Buchanan, retired minister of Northside Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, Jean requests shoes to be donated for children in need.
