George Paul Dowd, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Crowley, TX on February 17, 2022.
Born in Angelica, NY to Florence and Lloyd Dowd, Sr. on November 27, 1932. George graduated from Angelica Central High School in 1951. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. While residing in NYS, he worked eleven years on the Pennsylvania Railroad. After relocating to Waxahachie, TX he worked eleven years with Flexsteel Industries.
George cared deeply for his family and friends. His personal passions included working in his shop building furniture that he often designed himself. He also loved baseball, horse races, and casino outings with his wife Billie Jean.
George was pre-deceased by his wife of 27 years, Billie Jean (Williams), four brothers, Lloyd, Jr., Edward, Walter, and Jerry, and one son, Ricky. He is survived by his children Shelly (Craig) Kenney of Ephrata, PA, Brenda (Bill) Piganelli of Crowley, TX, and Michael (Tina) Dowd of Cuba, NY; his sister Mary Bryant of Roanoke, VA; his stepchildren Billy Wayne Stevens of Mt. Olive, MS and Stephen Don Williams; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Rev. Santos Villareal will be officiating services
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to favorite charities.
