Gary Allen Sims

Gary Allen Sims was a beloved husband, father, and Papaw who passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Waxahachie, Texas at the age of 55. Gary was born on April 29, 1968 in Quincy, Illinois to Marie Kay Curtis and Terry Jay Sims, and was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas where he graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1987. After graduation he lived in Cleburne, and then Arlington before he moved to Jackson, Tennessee where he met his wife, Charlotte Crews.

Gary developed a passion for mechanicing at a young age, where he loved taking apart anything he could get his hands on to find out how it works and how to fix it, before moving on to vehicles and making it his profession. If it had wheels, Gary could tell you the make, model, what engine, and much more of any vehicle, and loved sharing that knowledge with anyone he encountered, as well as helping them find their next vehicle. The only thing he loved more than cars was his family and friends, who would describe him as kind, hard-working, and loyal. Gary had an amazing sense of humor and made friends with anybody he met, and would happily give you the shirt off his back and open up his home to those in need.

Gary was preceded in death by his mom Marie Kay Curtis and dad Terry Jay Sims and survived by wife Charlotte Crews Sims, son Jeremy Travis Sims, daughter in law Allyee Sims and his beloved granddaughter Shelby, step mom Marylin Sims, sisters Terri & Andrew Garcia, Karyn & Charlie Booker, and brothers Sammy & Rachel Rock, Charles & Tawana Quick, Curtis & Ruth Quick, and 6 nieces (Emily, Danette, Desiree, Jordanna, Aryanna, Megan) and 8 nephews (Chase, Craig, Curtis Jr, Christopher, Ezequiel, Casey, Christopher B, Braxton) and many cousins.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on March 11th at 11:00am, located at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, TX. The address is 701 E Interstate 30, Rockwall, TX 75087 and will meet inside of the chapel.
