Frederik Hekking

Frederik Johannes Hekking, 87, of Waxahachie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1930 in the Dutch East Indies to Henri and May (Van Hengel) Hekking.
Fred was an incredibly intelligent man who had many varied interests. He came to Waxahachie to work on the super collider and stayed to make this town he loved, his home. He followed many of his dreams and always looked at the bright side of life.
There is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that best describes how Fred lived his life; "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air."
He will be greatly missed.
Fred was preceded in death by Dorothy Brown Hekking.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Atwell Hekking; children and their spouses, Janet and Todd Henderson, Fred R. Hekking, Robyn Hekking and Ron Grove; his sister, Louise Belinfante; his grandchildren, Dexter Hekking and Haleigh Hekking; his nieces, Madeleine Belinfante, Nicholette Belinfante and Valerie Belinfante.
He is also survived by Peggy's children and spouses, Jeff and Lori Atwell, Lisa and Dean McInturff; also by Peggy's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is also survived by Dorothy's family; her daughter and spouse, Stephanie and Scott Pinkston; grandchildren and their spouses, Caroline and Ford Binning and Phillip Pinkston.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waxahachie.
A rosary prayer service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. June 29, 2018 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. There will be an hour of visitation for family and friends before and after the rosary prayer service.
