On July 16, 2021, Shelton Richardson softly and tenderly went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Francis Shelton Richardson was born August 14, 1937 at home in the country between Madill and Kingston, Oklahoma. He was born to Jack and Mildred (Brock) Richardson.
Shelton attended Kingston High School and graduated in 1955. He worked in the oil industry and owned a gas station. He went to work at LTV Aerospace in 1968.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Richardson; his in-laws, Lester and Scotty Jacobs and his brother-in-law, Les Jacobs.
On December 15th, 1984, Shelton married the love of his life, Carol Jacobs. They met when they were both working at LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol (Jacobs) Richardson. He is also survived by the mother of his sons, Cecilia Mizell. Survivors also include sons, Don Richardson of San Diego and Shelton Richardson of Plano; grandchildren Thom and Mary Richardson, Courtney and Steve Cohen, Elise and Lance Maxwell and Brock Richardson and Ashlee Johansen; great-grandchildren, Reece, Shelby and Makayla Cohen, Brandon Bailey and Harvey Maxwell. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and his wife, David and Cher Jacobs.
Shelton was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church where he made many friends over the last six years. He loved hearing sermons that were preached from the Bible with scriptures to reference the sermon. This meant a great deal to him.
He retired from LTV in 1992 and greatly enjoyed retirement. After retiring, he started a wood working business. He loved making Nativity baskets, several styles of crosses and many other Christian wooden items. It brought up lots of conversations where he could talk about his Lord and Savior and how He had changed his life. Many customers bought crosses and shipped them all over the world.
A graveside service for family was held on July 20, 2021, at Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Michael Elrod, a very close friend and pastor of Ovilla Church of Christ conducted the graveside service.
