Floyd Franklin Honea passed away peacefully in Red Oak on October 20, 2015 at the age of 85. He was born on January 10, 1930 in McKinney, Texas. Frank graduated from McKinney High School. He married Gloria Ann Blanchett of Dallas on July 8, 1949. After leaving the U. S. Army, he began working as a federal employee for the U. S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard. Over a period of time, the couple welcomed two children into their home and Frank set about teaching them life skills. His children remember him as a patient, gentle father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Frank was accomplished at wood working and operated a crafts antique business with Gloria for many years. His work is appreciated in numerous homes throughout the United States. Frank was a dedicated individual who loved the Lord and who was passionate about working with the Cedar Crest Baptist Church through the Royal Ambassadors Program. He was an active member of the Cedar Crest and Kiestwood Baptist Churches and served as Chairman of the Deacons. Frank as he was known to his friends and family is survived by his wife, Gloria Ann Honea of Red Oak; his sons, Floyd F. Honea, II of Dallas and John P. Honea and his wife, Renea of Wylie; his sister, Jeanetta Adams of Ft. Worth; his grandsons, Chris Honea of Frisco and Shawn Honea and his wife, Keri of Dallas; he is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Zack, Sarah, Jonathan and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Honea; his mother, Versie Wilson Honea; his brothers, Eddie, Leon and Curly; and his sister, Francis. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Eastridge Baptist Church in Red Oak with Bro. Jack Ables officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank's life. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
