Florene Nix

August 21, 1929 — April 17, 2016

Florene Nix, 86 of Red Oak, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Red Oak. She was born to the late Addicus and Grace Borton Black on August 21, 1929 in Waldron, Arkansas.

Florene enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and square dancing. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by her sons, Chris Nix, Jr. of Garland, Charles Nix and his wife, Debbie of Red Oak, Randy Nix and his wife, Susan of Fayetteville, Ark and Bobby Nix and his wife, Teresa of Buffalo, Texas; she is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.

Florene was preceded in death by her husband, Chris C. Nix, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Paula Nix; her brother, Raymond Black; and also by her sister, Cora Lee Bourquin.

Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Red Oak. Interment will follow at the Wheatland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers include, Greg Nix, Jacob Nix, Zach Nix, Don Nix, Tyler Nix, Jason Nix, Joshua Nix and Jordan Nix.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers include, Bradley Nix, John Paul Taylor, Jason Greenhaw and Pablo Cruz.
