Florence Geneva Dennie, 93 of Waxahachie, passed away at her residence Friday, June 12, 2009. She was born to the late Luther C. and Ada Arnett Smith on September 11, 1915 in Limestone County, AL.
Geneva loved to garden, loved flowers, especially red roses. The Waxahachie Daily Light ran a story on how large her okra stalks grew. She loved the outdoors and worked hard all of her life. In her younger days, her passion was playing baseball and she could play it better than most. Most all of her life, she was known as the person in charge and took pride in taking care of her family.
Geneva was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Jo Dennie and his wife, Shirley, R. T. Dennie and his wife, Paula, L. C. Dennie and his wife, Rita, and James Dennie; her daughter, Barbara Girouard and her husband, Richard; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thurman Dennie and by her son, Leon Truman Dennie.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
