Everett General Spear, Jr., lovingly known as Gracky and Buddy. Born April 19, 1917 to Everett G. and Rosa Spear in Hugo, Oklahoma, and entered into life everlasting July 9, 2004, in his home, surrounded by family. He was raised in Harlingen, Texas, and married Dorothy Mildred Smith Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1940 in McAllen, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Corps 1942-1945. In 1953, Everett and Mildred moved to Waxahachie and have lived here since. He retired from the U.S. Post Office. In his retirement, he worked at Odom's Pawn Shop. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #90, Hella Temple Shriner, American Legion, Downtown Bible Class, the brotherhood of St. Andrews, Whataburger Coffee Club, and a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Waxahachie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett G. and Rosa Spear, his brothers, Hawley N. and Owen Spear. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Mildred, his two children, Peggy Louise Norcross of Forreston and the Rev. Leslie Edward Spear of Weslaco, granddaughters Robyn Christensen and Kelly Clements of Waxahachie, Anne Katherine and Elizabeth Spear of Slocum, Texas, great-grandchildren Amber Beye, Heather Skuce, Westmoreland Everett Skipper, Joshua Christensen, and Colton Clements, great-great-granddaughter Maliyah Johnson, all of Waxahachie.

The funeral will be at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Waxhachie, on Monday, July 12, 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. The interment will be held at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Altar Fund at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 624 Ovilla Road, Waxahachie, Texas, 75165.

Gracky was a man of deep faith, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend. May his soul rest in peace, and let light perpetual shine upon him.
